How to Make Dried Apple Napkin Rings
1. Preheat your oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Prep your apples
Wash and slice your apples thinly (about 1/8 inch thick).
I found that I preferred how they look when sliced vertically versus horizontally. The shape of the apple is more obvious.
Then lightly brush lemon juice on both sides of the apple slices. This will prevent them from turning brown.
Next, using the toothpick, create a hole in the corner of the apple slice. This will be for the twine after the slices have dried.
I found it was easier to create the hole BEFORE drying the apples.
3. Dry out your apple slices
Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on a rack and place the rack on a baking sheet.
Bake the apple slices for 1 hour, then flip the slices and bake for 1 more hour.
Turn off the oven and leave the apple slices in the oven for a few more hours.
4. Make your diy dried apple napkin rings
To make the napkin rings, simply thread a piece of twine or ribbon through the hole you created in each apple slice.
Then tie the twine or ribbon in a knot around the napkin, and trim off any excess.
Tips to enhance your DIY dried apple napkin rings
- Make your napkin rings more festive by adding a cinnamon stick or a sprig of rosemary to each one.
- Select colored twine or ribbon to match your tablescape.
These simple diy dried apple napkin rings are an easy way to add a touch of fall décor to your table.
Plus, they’re natural and sustainable. Bonus!
