This year I wanted to style a natural St. Patrick’s Day table setting. I didn’t feel like creating a tablescape that screamed St. Paddy’s Day this year.
A table that wasn’t filled with shamrocks, leprechauns, and pots of gold.
I wanted a table setting that spoke to the holiday but wasn’t “BAM” in your face.
Ya know what I mean?
Something subtle. Something natural and organic.
Not filled with knick-knacks and holiday symbols.
Ya know what?
I think I did it!
I styled a simple natural St. Patrick’s Day tablescape that speaks to the holiday. One you can easily recreate and can leave out beyond St. Patrick’s Day.

How to Style a Natural St. Patrick’s Day Table Setting
What I mean by “natural”, I’m referring more to the colors and the textures incorporated into this table setting.
It isn’t an in-your-face St. Patrick’s Day tablescape.
More of a nod to nature.
So you’re not going to see clovers or leprechauns or pots of gold at the end of the rainbow on my table setting.
It’s going to be kind of more of a subtle inspiration for St. Patrick’s Day.
Create the Foundation for Your St. Paddy’s Tablescape
The first thing I did was place a natural table runner from Target down the table.
Don’t you love the natural colors and the woven look of it? It’s very subtle and has the colors I wanted to incorporate into my tablescape.
Next, I added placements (also found at Target). I like the organic nature and shape of them. Plus, they coordinate perfectly with the table runner.
Styling the Place Settings
For the place settings, I started with simple, basic white plates. They’re our everyday dinner plates. Their simplicity provides a solid foundation for the rest of the tablescape.
(Don’t think everything needs to be fancy or have a pattern on it.)
Next, I added cabbage leaf salad plates on top of my dinner plates. I love their color, shape, and the details of them. They give you that feeling of a clover. Which is why they work so perfectly on this St. Patrick’s Day theme tablescape.
Then for the flatware… they’ve got green handles, so they are perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day tablescape..
You’ll notice I am not using two forks, which I usually would with a dinner plate and a salad plate. And that’s because this flatware didn’t come with two forks. It only came with one fork. So I don’t have a second fork to use on my table.
For the glasses, the water ones I picked up at an estate sale recently and the green wine ones I found at Target.
Isn’t the green perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day table setting?
See how their shapes complement each other. I think they work really well together.
Now for my napkins. I was gifted them a few years ago. The checkered green and off-white colors perfectly complement the table runner and my salad plates.
I styled the napkins so they lay in such a way that it’s natural but not messy looking. This provides an organic quality to the place settings.
Create Your St. Patrick’s Day Centerpiece
Once your place settings are complete, it’s time to create your St. Patrick’s Day centerpiece.
I opted for a natural ceramic vase and created a flower bouquet using fabulous green and white hydrangeas. The light neutral color of the vase enables the green flowers to really pop and creates some liveliness on the table.
Then I added two more things to the table.
The first was a medium-sized bowl. I love the detail in it. Almost as if it’s made from rope.
The bowl doesn’t match perfectly with my vase, but compliments it and ties in the colors of the table runner.
Inside, I added a bunch of moss-covered vase filler balls. They pull in the green from the napkins, glasses, and salad plates. Again, they don’t perfectly match, but complement.
The last piece I added to my St. Paddy’s centerpiece was a small, super cute, tidbit dish.
Its natural color and scalloped shape, totally complement my cabbage dishes and the placemats.
Also, its small size helps balance the centerpiece.
That’s it!
Wasn’t that SO SIMPLE!
Doesn’t it speak to the holiday? In an understated way.
