Don’t fret. I’ve got ya.

1. Bench Seating (from bedroom or piano)
Do you have a bench at the end of your bed? Or maybe one by the entryway where you can put on your shoes?
Or maybe a piano bench?
Grab it, pull it up to your table, and use it for a guest or two to sit on.
2. Poufs or Floor Cushions
Who doesn’t love a good pouf?
They’re so stylish and fun.
The same goes for floor cushions. I love how thick and comfy they are. Especially if you stack them!
Poufs and floor cushions are a great alternative party seating solution if you want to gather guests around a coffee table.
3. Ottomans
I don’t know about you, but I love sitting on ottomans.
They’re comfortable because they have padding. Not a hard base like most chairs. And you can easily pick them up and move them around.
If they’re good for your feet, they’re good for your tush. lol!
4. Folding Chairs
Yes, this is the obvious alternative seating option for your party, but I’ve gotta mention them.
If you don’t have enough dining chairs, then folding chairs are probably your next best option.
They’re easy to store and most likely the same seating height as your own chairs.
And someone you know probably has a few to lend.
5. Stackable Stools
Along the same lines as folding chairs, stackable stools are a great alternative party seating solution.
They just don’t have the back that standard chairs have.
6. Mismatch Chairs
If you’re more concerned about butts in seats than everything matching, an assortment of various chairs is a wonderful solution to your seating dilemma.
I would bet you have an office or side chair that you can shimmy up to your table.
It might take up a little more space, but your guest will have a place to sit.
7. Sofas
Thinking outside the box, use your sofa for an additional party seating option.
I’m not suggesting that you pick up your couch and move it into the dining room, but you could consider putting a folding table in front of your sofa and then adding chairs around it.
Some of your guests will love the comfiness of the cushions.
8. Sports Chairs (camping chairs)
You probably own at least one (or more) sports chairs.
Those chairs that fold up like a butterfly and go into a bag. Perfect for watching kiddos at their soccer, baseball, or football games.
They’re a great alternative for seating around a table.
9. Step Stool
Think about a collapsable step stool as another option for additional seating.
Most likely the top step is a perfect height for sitting. Consider placing a pillow on it to add a little softness for your guest’s bum.
Bonus ~ the handle acts as a back, and the lower step is a place for feet to rest.
10. Coffee Table
I know, I know ~ a coffee table as an alternative to seating? What am I thinking!!
And I get it.
I’d be afraid of someone sitting on one of my coffee tables.
But most coffee tables are a good height to sit on, and if you have a sturdy one that can support someone sitting on it, then pull it up to the table.

Well, there you have it ~ 10 alternative seating ideas for your event.
