I’ve created this dining outdoors checklist for you.
Why?
Because it’s Summer time. A time to be outside.
A time to enjoy eating outdoors. To enjoy the weather with friends and family.
When planning to dine outdoors, you don’t want to forget anything that could dampen or ruin the enjoyment of your meal.
That’s where this handy-dandy checklist for dining outside comes in.
It’s a fabulous reference for verifying you have everything needed to ensure an enjoyable alfresco dining experience.
Are you familiar with the term: dining alfresco, or al fresco?
It’s another way to say dining outdoors. The meanings are interchangeable. Just like the spelling. Both alfresco and al fresco are correct.
So when someone mentions dining alfresco, they’re saying to dine outside.
I don’t know about you, but there’s something special about outdoor dining. Maybe it’s the openness or nature around you. You don’t feel as cooped-up, as restricted.
Dining al fresco just feels comfortable and relaxed. Which is why you don’t want something to spoil that feeling.
Hence the need for an outdoor dining checklist. To ensure you don’t forget anything.

1~ Consider the elements:
Do you have shade structures: an awning, a canopy, or umbrellas? Maybe an outdoor fan? Or a portable heater or fire pit if it’s cold?
2~ Do you have enough tables and chairs?
Get a rough headcount and make sure you have enough surfaces to eat on and places for guests to sit. If not, borrow from a friend.
3~ Will you be barbequing? Do you have everything you need?
Is your outdoor grill clean? Do you have enough propane or briquettes? Do you have barbeque tools?
4~ Could bugs be an issue?
Do you have bug repellant? What about insect deterrents: zappers, citronella candles, and food tents?
5~ Will you be dining outside at night?
What lighting do you have: lanterns, string lights, battery-operated candles? If it will be cold, do you have extra lap blankets?
6~ Do you have the right tableware?
Consider shatter-proof plates and glasses, and an outdoor tablecloth.
7~ How will you serve beverages?
Do you have a drink dispenser for water or a pre-mixed drink? Will you have ice buckets or coolers for cold drinks? Maybe a bar cart?
8~ Miscellaneous items to consider:
Don’t forget to have extra ice, an easily accessible trash can, and a Bluetooth speaker to play music outside.
When you’re planning on dining alfresco, you want to enjoy the time with your guests and being outside. This dining outdoors checklist will come in very handy.
