1. Trending Colors for Summer
Honestly, I was a little surprised (and maybe a little disappointed) at the colors trending for table settings this Summer.
I was expecting to see lots of bright and vibrant colors. Ya know ~ bright yellow, fuchsia, electric blue, etc.. Which is what you often see in Summer.
Not this Summer.
Nope. Most of the stores are carrying muted colors.
Summer ’23 is all about creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere with soft, muted colors.
Target and World Market have pieces using dusty orange, muted yellow, dark blue, and sandy tan. Whereas Crate&Barrel and William Sonoma had darker colors: burnt orange, dark blue, khaki, and sage green.
White is still a trending color. Especially with plates and serving pieces. Which, combined with the muted colors, adds to the freshness of the season.
2. Dishes that are On-Trend this Summer
As to be expected, there are loads of melamine plates trending this Summer. There are more colors, patterns, and styles than I’ve seen in past Summers. Most of the dishes you don’t even realize are melamine until you pick them up.
They don’t look like the cheap plastic plates of the past. They look like real ceramic plates. In fact, Crate&Barrel has a set that looks like wood ~ seriously! I picked them up and was totally surprised.
You’ll easily be able to find a set you like.
3. Table Setting Patterns Trending in Stores
Often times when I’m researching the Season’s trends, I see the same themes across multiple stores. Not this Summer.
Every store had a totally different pattern for their Summer table setting pieces.
World Market has a pattern that embraces a muted tropical look with monkeys and palm trees. While Target’s melamine line is all about geometric shapes, stripes, and checks.
William Somoma has multiple sets of Italian-theme patterned dishes. If you love plates that are mismatched then you’re gonna love ’em! And Crate&Barrel has two very different patterned melamine plates. One set is all about the butterfly and the other ~ faux light wood.
Talk about all being unique and different!
I couldn’t spot a trend. Which is kinda cool, as there is definitely something for everyone out there this Summer.
All-in-all there weren’t a lot of new tableware trends I spotted for this Summer season. Just a nice continuation of what we saw come out in Spring.
Looking forward to see what Fall brings!
