I had plans for last week.
Plans for diy projects.
Plans for a new table setting to share with you.
But they got derailed by my son.
Ya see ~ he was invited to attend Comic Con with a friend. Which meant he needed a costume.
A new costume ~ in less than a week
And he needed my help to create it.
Who am I to say “no” to my sweet baby boy?
He needed and wanted my help.
Then he showed me what he wanted, and I instantly regretted agreeing to help.
Why?
Because it meant I would spend all my time making it
Grr.
My plans for the week had changed.
My son wanted to be Ahsoka from Star Wars.
If you Google her, you will immediately notice her headpiece (for lack of a better description). It’s quite unusual. And not something you can just run to the store and buy.
Much less, whip out in a day.
So I needed to dig deep into my crafting knowledge and figure out how I was going to make it.
Sewing it might result in a lumpy mess and upholstery foam was too expensive.
So I decided on white craft foam. Easy to use and a roll was just $6 (after using my Joann’s coupon). I already had everything else we needed in my craft stash.
After 4 days of working on it, the headpiece was complete.
Whew! I seriously didn’t think I would get it done. There were a few failed attempts and time was running out.
But we got it done.
I think it turned out pretty darn good. And my son loved it! (That’s the best!)
In fact, he sketched and painted the design on it. (In my world, he needed to be a part of this project if he wanted my help.)
Whaddya think?

This is just the headpiece, but it was 90% of the costume. The other pieces were easy to do.
The best part of this costume ~ he doesn’t need one for Halloween!
Yay!
(My husband says he’s lucky he has a mom like me. I agree, lol!)
Wowza!! Good job, sweet mama! It’s amazing!!
Awww! Thank you!!! (I am pretty proud of it, haha.)
Would love to see a photo of your son in full costume.
I will need to get that picture posted, for sure!
