As soon as someone says “centerpiece”, do you think of a pretty fresh floral arrangement in the middle of a table? Most of us do. But there are SO many fantastic non-flower centerpiece ideas for your table.
You don’t need flowers to create a fabulous centerpiece.
I often think that floral centerpieces are a crutch for a table. After all, it’s easy to get a bouquet of flowers and put them in the middle of your table.
I know. I do it.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I love flowers! And will often buy them for myself. (I actually don’t know the last time my husband bought me flowers, as I beat him to it – haha!)
But you don’t need flowers on your table to have a fantastic centerpiece. In fact, non-floral centerpieces are amazing. And they last!
You can’t say that about fresh flowers, lol.
So the next time you’re wanting a new centerpiece for your dining table, think about these fabulous ideas:
9 Non-Flower Centerpiece Ideas for Your Table
1 ~ Use candles for your table’s centerpiece

After floral centerpieces, candles are probably the next most common option used for a tabletop centerpiece.
You can create an attractive grouping of them, or line them down the center of your table.
You can also combine different types and colors of candles to make an attractive centerpiece.
2 ~ A tiered tray is a great non-flower centerpiece idea for your table
Tiered trays make great non-floral centerpieces. You can switch out what’s in the trays for each holiday or different seasons.
Plus tiered trays are compact and movable, which is fantastic when you need to place food on the table.
3 ~ A collection of items instead of flowers
Do you have a collection of small items? Like shells, or small figurines? Why not use them to create a unique centerpiece for your dining room table?
You can place them directly on your tabletop, or within a container.
Below you can see how I used my bottle brush trees to create a non-flower centerpiece.

Talk about a great way to show off a collection.
4 ~ Sculpture or an art piece make for a fabulous table centerpiece
One of the easiest, and most impactful, non-flower centerpiece ideas for your table is to use a piece of art.
It can be something you made, a piece that someone else made, or a small sculpture you bought. Just place it on your table and let it be the focal point. It will stand out in your space and make for an amazingly unique centerpiece.
Super simple and chic!
5 ~ Use food for a non-floral centerpiece
A bowl filled with fresh fruits or veggies makes a beautiful centerpiece and can really freshen up a table.
You often see bowls filled with citrus fruits, because they last a long time and their rinds are so pretty with yellows, oranges, and greens.
Apples and grapes are also fantastic fruits to use as a centerpiece.
In addition to fruit, vegetables to consider for a centerpiece are eggplant, acorn squash, pumpkins, and different colored peppers.
6 ~ Instead of flowers, use branches for your table’s centerpiece
I don’t categorize branches with flowers. I think of floral centerpieces as ones that last a few days to a week. Branches last much, much longer.
Placing just a few Curly Willow branches, or even cool-looking dead tree branches in a container makes for a fabulous non-floral tabletop centerpiece.
Below you can see how I used branches as part of my Galentine’s Day centerpiece.

The great thing about branches is the height and visual interest they add to a centerpiece.
If you want to add a little fun to your branches, wind fairy lights around them. CUTE!!
7 ~ Succulents or air plants are great centerpieces
Small pots of succulents or air plants make wonderful non-flower centerpieces on your dining table. They’re living plants that bring nature to your tabletop.
Plus, they’re amazing in that they don’t need much care, they look great, and they’re a unique centerpiece.
Love them!
8 ~ A lantern on your table is a terrific centerpiece option

Placing a lantern on your dining table makes for a nice centerpiece. It can be simple, with a ribbon tied to it, or you can make it more elaborate like I did.
Place the lantern inside a tray and surround it with filler items.
You can easily change the decor based on the season.
9 ~ Pine cones make for a lasting seasonal non-flower centerpiece
Using pine cones as your centerpiece is a seasonal option, and also one that can be displayed as long as you want.
Line a bread bowl with them and they look great on their own. Or if you want to dress them up, mix them with candles or greenery.
Next time you’re creating a centerpiece for your table, consider tying one of the 9 ideas I’ve shared with you. I’m sure it will look fabulous on your table.
